2016 Garden Calendar - Now SOLD OUT

Picture
Beautiful full colour, month to view wall calendar featuring photos of the garden, throughout the seasons most of which were taken by talented photographer and garden member, Ven Vilela. The calendars will be on sale for €4.50 (€4.00 for multi-buys ie: 3 or more). We've ordered 200 and all profits will be ploughed straight back into the garden.  A big thank you also to Tony who designed the calendar and used his industry contacts to get us a great deal on the printing.

They will be available to buy on-line through the website (€2 p&p) soon or with cash at the garden through Linda or any of the committee members.  They will make great stocking fillers and they're a lovely showcase for the garden so please support the garden by purchasing one of them. For further queries or enquires contact santrycommunitygarden@gmail.com

Cleaner Communities Awards 2014

Picture
Our beautiful garden won the Best Community Environmental Initiative in Fingal County Council's Cleaner Communities Awards 2014 on September 18th.

It is fantastic to see that our gorgeous garden is garnering such admiration. Everyone works so hard and it's brilliant to see that our efforts have not gone unnoticed.

The garden got a 200 euro voucher from Woodies as our prize so we will be thinking very carefully about how to spend it.  Thanks to FCC Community Officer, Ann Mulligan for all her help and support.

Pride of Place Awards Submission - July 2014

Picture
Fingal County Council entered us into these national awards and we were visited by the Judges on a particularly warm and beautiful summer's afternoon on 22nd July.  The bunting fluttered, the scones were laid out and the garden looked magnificent.

It's a National competition and we were entered into the Eco category so at this stage it's difficult to know whether we stand a chance - it will all depend on the competition.  UPDATE: The awards were announced in November and unfortunately we were unsuccessful. However we all agreed being nominated was an achievement in itself and it gave us a great focus. Click the link to see a copy of the PowerPoint presentation we prepared for them: Pride of Place Submission

A huge and heartfelt thank you to all of wonderful members who contribute their time and their skills to make our garden such a beautiful place to be and such a successful initiative.

Congratulations to Colm Lombard who collected his Gaisce Award for working in the Santry Community Garden

His proud dad Carl, who's a member of the garden wrote to us recently to say:

"My son Colm was presented with his Gaisce award (President's award) this week. It's given to students who undertake community or voluntary work over a year. He did his community work in Santry community garden last year digging, weeding, wheel barrowing (is that a word?) etc. Big thanks to Tony for signing his attendance sheets."

Thanks to Dublin Bus Community Spirit Awards

Thanks so much to the Dublin Bus Community Spirit Initiative which granted us 1,000 to buy a badly needed rotavator and 2 lawnmowers. As you can see below the rotavator's already being put to good use and we're delighted with our mowers as well.  The smaller, lighter model is ideal for older members and is great for mowing in between the trees in the Heritage Orchard and the larger model is great for the wider areas of grass.
