Yes I know it's rather rainy at the moment so not ideal weather for pottering about in the garden but think of all the good it's doing for our trees. Our wha'? I hear you ask. Yes, if you haven't visited in a while you won't have seen our Orchard which has been planted with over 120 heritage variety fruit trees and bushes. It's beautiful and although at the moment the stakes are bigger than the trees it has already transformed the second section of our garden.
The vegetable beds are also doing wonderfully. We've made great progress sowing our salad bed, our Hi and Lo bed has begun and the polytunnel is filled with seedlings which are all ready to be transplanted. Our potato beds are all done now (that wasn't a hard job at all…… ) and have already sprung into life and most enticingly of all, luscious strawberries are ripening all around the garden.
So there's a great variety of gentle (and not so gentle) jobs for anyone who wants to come along and feel the summer earth between their fingers.
Remember we are now open 5 days a week - Sat/Sun between 11-1pm, Wed/Fri between 2-4pm and Tuesday evenings between 7.30pm-8.30pm. We can't guarantee it, but we are often open later than the specified times depending on good weather and enthusiasm!
By the way if anyone is revamping their own garden please keep in mind we are always on the look out for old paving slabs, patio furniture, decking etc. And buckets, watering cans, hoses or anything else you are throwing out could be exactly the thing we need - Just drop us a mail and we'll get right back to you on it - cheaper than bringing it to the skip or begging the binmen to take it.
See you soon! The SCG
