Very quick note to communicate a few bits and pieces.
Firstly, I very rarely do this but Dublin is gearing up to be a candidate for European City of Culture in 2020 and the guys in DCC are asking community groups for input. I know we are a wonderfully diverse lot so I thought some of you might be interested in giving them your input to what initiatives would really showcase our beautiful city and benefit us all long term - see email below for info.
Secondly - who needs a compost bin? One of our members has six perfectly useable compost bins, the normal, domestic sort which she needs a home for. If anyone wants to take them please email me and I'll pass on details to you. Pick up would be from Santry.
Third.... Party, Party, Party Time!! We're having our summer midsummer bbq on the afternoon of Sunday 21st June when we will officially open our new shed. A glorious big ribbon will be supplied plus impressive scissor cutting ceremony - you won't want to miss it. Much more enticingly there will be sunshine (I promise!), delicious food (we'll do our usual 'pot luck' and ask all members to bring along something to throw on the coals) and we can relax in our lovely garden for a few hours to celebrate the start of the most satisfying and abundant few months of the gardening calendar. So put the date in your diaries and I'll be in touch to confirm exact details nearer the time.
Fourth - have you been to the garden lately? If you haven't, please, do yourself and us a favour and come and see us. The garden is looking beautiful. There's always loads to do but we really are looking very smart this year. Lots of dandelions unfortunately but also loads of wonderful plants and veggies coming out of the polytunnel, our pond has been visited by ducks (and who can blame them - it's fab!), our front section is really maturing and coming on wonderfully, the apiary is extended, the orchard is sprinkled with blossoms and the spud bed is a thing of beauty.
