This spring, we've already been able to secure two new hives for our thriving apiary. We have planted around 30 heritage variety trees in the orchard (all of which came from our grafting workshops in 2013 and 2014) and we now have the funds to develop our wildlife area, invest in some badly needed tools and develop our beautiful front section further.
None of this would be possible without your support. Our members give up their enthusiasm, their time and their skills to the garden but although we are a frugal organisation, we still need cash injections from time to time and that's why your support for evenings such as last night are so essential.
The thank you list is long ... We got some wonderful prizes from local businesses and from individuals. I won't name you all here but from the garden and the committee - a heartfelt thank you to all.
However, I do have to give a shout out to the magnificent Jean Brophy and Liz O'Rourke. These two ladies planned the Quiz from start to finish, handled all the logistics and worked really hard on the night to ensure the evening went so well and so smoothly (venue, sound system, questions, getting prizes, putting together the beautiful hampers, score-keeping etc). All I had to do was turn up and talk into the mic.
Hope you all have a great weekend. See you in the garden soon and for all of our members who haven't made it up in a while, don't be a stranger. Come up for a cup of tea and see how your hard work in previous years is now paying off. Dust off the wellies and come and help us getting the garden ready for the Summer.
Thanks again, all the best,
Donna and the SCG Committee
